On October 1, 1992 the first round of golf was played at Westchase. Fifteen years later Westchase is going strong. As a part of our continued commitment to keep Westchase as Tampa’s favorite daily-fee course, we completed several exciting capital projects over the past year. Foremost are the major expenditures for Clubhouse renovation completed by nationally recognized clubhouse designer John Sirny. This included new terrace furniture, new televisions, new carpeting, wall coverings and artwork, furnishings and a spectacular gallery of photography by world-renowned local artist Carlton Ward, Jr. (www.carltonward.com). These enhancements were met with rave reviews from both golfing guests and group planners who frequent Westchase for meetings, banquets, and special gathering
WESTCHASE GOLF CLUB’S GREENS IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Construction is underway on a new greens project that will take place in stages through August. For this project, we partnered with Pike Creek Turf, an industry-leading turfgrass producer. Eight greens will be regrassed this summer with SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum to complete the 18 holes. Ten greens on the golf course plus the chipping green and putting green were regrassed last summer with the same grass. SeaDwarf Seashore Paspalum is known for its rich green color and excellent green speeds. This grass has been chosen by many top courses around the world. This will improve the long-term health of the greens as well as enhance the playability of the putting surfaces for years to come.
The re-grassing of greens #9 - #16 began on June 2 with a scheduled opening date of September 1. During this period, we have prepared 8 temporary greens to accommodate 18 holes of play.
Thank you for your patience during these important projects…and thank you for your ongoing support and patronage of Westchase Golf Club!
