WESTCHASE - For almost 15 years, the Westchase Golf Club has been a colorful venue, even as the local market has grown.Clay Thomas, general manager for the Westchase course, said the golf industry boom from 1998 to 2001 created 18 new competitors in nearby counties, including Pasco, Hernando, Citrus and Manatee.'It's been great for golfers,' Thomas said. 'They have a lot more options. …While we have a great course here, there are a lot of options.' This Lloyd Clifton layout (par 72 and 6233 yards from the white tees) winds through a thickly wooded preserve. Fairways dogleg around thick stands of trees, and water comes into play on 10 holes. This is a good public course. It can also be a tough one if you choose to play the blue tees (6710 yards). The par-5s are on the short side from all sets of tees. This is a public golf course. SUMMER GOLF PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES AND JUNIORS
Offering Expanded Summer Junior Camps and new “Family Course” routing

TAMPA, FLORIDA – Westchase Golf Club, Tampa’s most popular upscale daily fee facility, builds on their reputation as a family-friendly facility by unveiling new junior golf programming for the summer including expanded Junior Camps and two new golf course routings “Family/Learning Course” and the shorter “Fun Course” offered this summer.

Expanded Junior Camps At Westchase
Westchase’s extremely popular junior golf camps customarily experience long waiting lists, so this summer they will substantially expand the number of these weekly camps. Also, the golf professionals at Westchase have expanded the Junior Camp program to include a supervised play option in which a greater emphasis is placed on rules, strategy and competition. Instruction provided is from Westchase’s PGA Professionals, presented in a fun and challenging environment for junior golfers of all skill levels. Students will learn sound golf fundamentals, including full swing, putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play along with etiquette, rules of golf and golf safety.

Tee it up on the “Family/Learning Course” or “Fun Course” This Summer

Westchase Golf Club also unveiled two specially routed courses set up on the club’s front nine. The walking only, nine hole “Fun Course” is a perfect introduction to the game of golf for even the youngest golfer with holes from 50-140 yards. The “Family/Learning Course” features holes from 100-350 yards and is ideal for the beginning golfer or family offering a little more challenge than the “Fun Course”. These courses will be open June 27 - August 31, 2007. Juniors and parents can play at special low rates. Call the golf shop for more details. Supervised play from the aforementioned Junior Camps will also run concurrently with the weekly camps on Westchase’s “Family Course”.
